Jonathan Ayala Dead, James Grant Arrested after Pedestrian Accident on East Ledbetter Drive [Dallas, TX]
14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Pedestrian vs Car Accident near Maraslis Avenue
DALLAS, TX (October 10, 2024) – Friday, Jonathan Ayala died and James Grant was arrested after a pedestrian crash on East Ledbetter Drive.
The incident happened around 8:00 a.m., near Marsalis Avenue on September 6th.
According to Dallas Police, Grant was a passenger in a southbound vehicle when he got into a fight with the female driver. As Grant assaulted the driver, the vehicle veered east onto Ledbetter Drive.
There, the vehicle struck Ayala who was walking along a grassy area on his way to Boude Storey Middle School. Upon impact, Grant ran away from the scene while the driver called 911.
Following preliminary duties, police were able to locate 47-year-old Grant at a nearby bus stop. Officers then arrested and charged him with felony murder.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported 14-year-old Ayala to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The loved ones of Ayala set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this difficult time.
