54-Year-Old Sacramento Man Killed in Sedan vs SUV Collision near Sunmeadow Drive

SACRAMENTO, CA (October 10, 2024) – Monday morning, Daniel Lee Jennings was killed and Alvin Chand was arrested after a DUI crash.

Authorities responded to the scene around 12:52 a.m., near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Sunmeadow Drive.

Based on the initial investigation, the driver of an SUV collided with a sedan, leaving the sedan driver with fatal injuries. First responders declared the sedan driver dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the SUV driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

On Wednesday, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased sedan driver as 54-year-old Daniel Lee Jennings. 

Police arrested the SUV driver, identified as 46-year-old Alvin Chand of Elk Grove, at the hospital after showing signs of intoxication. Officials booked Chand in Sacramento County Main Jail for homicide and vehicular manslaughter.
