Two Dead, One Arrested after Police Pursuit Ends in Crash near Kellogg Drive
POMONA, CA (October 8, 2024) – Friday, Joey Gomez and Jose Caudillo died, and Erick Daniel Bolanos was arrested after a crash on 10 Freeway.
Authorities responded to the scene near Kellogg Drive around 5:45 p.m.
California Highway Patrol officers say they were pursuing the driver of a black BMW X6 when it lost control and collided with a dirt berm. The BMW then overturned multiple times on the transition road from northbound 71 Freeway.
In addition, two occupants from inside the BMW were ejected onto the road. First responders declared the two ejected occupants dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner later identified the deceased victim as 34-year-old Gomez and 38-year-old Caudillo. The other passenger, described to be a 45-year-old man, was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the driver, 30-year-old Bolanos of Montclair, after attempting to flee the scene. Once available, further details will be provided.
