39-Year-Old Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Bus Crash near 7th Street

PHOENIX, AZ (October 7, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Liliana Rivera-Cruz was killed in a bus accident on Interstate 10.

Authorities responded to the eastbound lanes of the freeway around 5:30 a.m., near 7th Street on September 28th.

Reports indicate that a buss occupying 23 people suffered a tire failure and crashed into the center median before overturning and ejecting an occupant.

Paramedics arrived and transported 17 injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. In addition, crews also took Rivera-Cruz to a hospital in critical condition.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 39-year-old Rivera-Cruz deceased at the hospital.

Responding troopers blocked the highway for several hours, and it was reopened by 9:00 p.m. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
