Shane Loudermilk, Ricardo Castro and Juan Castro Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 99 [Sutter County, CA]
Three Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near State Route 113
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (October 3, 2024) – Saturday, Shane Loudermilk, Ricardo Joso Soto Castro, and Juan Diego Soto Castro died in a head-on crash.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:40 a.m., on the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near State Route 113.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a 2015 Dodge Challenger was heading south and crossed into oncoming lanes. As a result, the Dodge collided head-on with a northbound 2010 Nissan Sentra.
Responding EMTs declared the 20-year-old Gridley man driving the Dodge, identified as Shane Loudermilk, dead at the scene.
The Nissan driver and passenger, identified as Ricardo Joso Soto Castro, 48, and Juan Diego Soto Castro, 43, also succumbed to their injuries.
Police also described the other Dodge passengers as a 21-year-old woman, two 18-year-old men, and a 16-year-old boy.
One of the passengers declined further medical transport, while the remaining two were taken to Adventist Health + Rideout Hospital.
At this time, a GoFundMe page has been set up for the families of Ricardo and Diego Soto Castro.
Investigators closed the northbound Highway 99 at State Route 113 for three hours as crews cleared the scene.
