32-Year-Old Woman Dies in Scooter vs Box-Truck Crash near Capitol Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 2, 2024) – Thursday morning, Geohaira Sosa was fatally struck in an electric-scooter collision on Alhambra Boulevard.
Police officers responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m., near Capitol Avenue and L Street on August 29th.
Based on the initial investigation, the driver of a box-truck hit a woman who was riding an electric scooter in the area. However, further circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
Medical responders declared the female victim dead at the scene. Sacramento Officials later identified her as 32-year-old Sosa, who was a first-year psychiatry resident at UC Davis Department of Psychiatry.
Meanwhile, the box truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
At this time, Sacramento officials are working to determine the cause of the fatal pedestrian crash. Officials closed Alhambra Avenue from Capitol Avenue to L Street as crews cleared the scene.
