2 Riders Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway [Irvine, CA]
Two Unidentified Motorcyclists Fatally Injured in Deadly Collision near Culver Drive
IRVINE, CA (October 2, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, two riders were pronounced dead after a motorcycle crash on 5 Freeway.
Authorities received dispatch calls around 12:15 a.m., just south of Culver Drive on August 25th.
First responders arrived to the northbound lanes and determined that a group of 50 riders was heading north at the time.
For reasons under investigation, one of the motorcyclists suddenly crashed in the middle lane.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced two riders dead at the scene. However, police officers have not yet released their identities.
Responding troopers blocked the northbound lanes of the freeway for several hours before it was later reopened around 4:00 a.m.
At this time, the circumstances leading up to the crash were not yet released, and the crash remains under investigation.
