65-Year-Old Minneapolis Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Calle Principal
MONTEREY, CA (October 1, 2024) – Friday, Kathryn Hong died and Jairo Cardenes Perez was involved in a pedestrian crash on Del Monte Avenue.
The incident occurred around 8:03 p.m., near Calle Principal.
Per reports, 23-year-old Perez, of Salinas was driving and struck a woman who was walking within a marked crosswalk.
Responding EMTs transported the female pedestrian to Natividad Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Monterey officials later identified the deceased pedestrian as 65-year-old Hong of Bloomington, Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, Perez remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The Monterey Police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
At this time, the Monterey County District Attorney’s office is reviewing the case.
