63-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed in Pedestrian Collision near 50th Street West
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 1, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, Abelardo Sosa was killed in a pedestrian crash on Rosamond Boulevard.
Police officers responded to the scene around 3:31 a.m., near 50th Street West.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of an eastbound 2018 Ford Fusion struck a man who was walking in the eastbound lanes.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. On Sunday, the Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased victim as 63-year-old Abelardo Hermitano Mendez Sosa, of Rosamond.
