51-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Rollerblading Crash near Olympic Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 25, 2024) – Friday, Jonathan Gonzalez was killed in a hit-and-run rollerblading accident on South Bundy Drive.
Authorities responded to the scene around 8:38 p.m., at the 2120 block of South Bundy Drive near Olympic Boulevard.
Witnesses say the driver of a westbound black Dodge Durango SUV struck a man who was riding rollerblades in the same direction. Upon impact, the driver sped away without rendering aid or contacting police officers.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, first responders declared the male victim dead at the scene. The Department of Medical Examiner later identified the deceased pedestrian as 51-year-old Jonathan Gonzalez.
Los Angeles Police Officers took the suspect, described as a man in his 30s, into custody on Saturday morning.
The family of Gonzalez started a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this time. He will be deeply missed by his community.
