John Hsieh Killed in Bicycle Collision on San Tomas Expressway [Campbell, CA]
87-Year-Old San Jose Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident near West Campbell Avenue
CAMPBELL, CA (September 25, 2024) – Wednesday morning, a bicycle collision on San Tomas Expressway claimed the life of John Hsieh.
Police officers responded to the scene around 9:05 a.m., near West Campbell Avenue.
Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck a cyclist in the area. However, further circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
Upon impact, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.
Paramedics transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital for further treatment of life-threatening injuries. On Friday, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the deceased victim as 87-year-old Hsieh, of San Jose.
Campbell officials closed southbound San Tomas Expressway and eastbound West Campbell Avenue shortly for investigation.
