One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Interstate 5
SACRAMENTO, CA (September 24, 2024) – Monday afternoon, one victim was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80.
Police officers responded to the scene around 4:25 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway just west of Interstate 5.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of an eastbound pickup-truck rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma that was stopped ahead.
The initial collision resulted in a chain-reaction crash that involved three other cars, causing a fire to break out.
Responding emergency crews said the Tacoma driver sustained life-threatening injuries and eventually died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the first pickup-truck driver and another patient to a hospital for treatment of minor to major injuries.
