58-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near East Mission Avenue
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 23, 2024) – Tuesday, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on North Broadway claimed the life of Miguel Leonides Garcia.
Authorities responded to the scene around 6:10 a.m., near East Mission Avenue.
Based on a witness report, the driver of a white off-road-style SUV struck the male pedestrian while turning right onto Broadway.
Responding paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Officials eventually identified the deceased victim as 58-year-old Garcia.
Authorities are searching for the SUV with a large spare tire and red “high-lift” jack attached to the rear end. The suspect was last seen traveling north on Broadway before heading east on Lincoln Avenue.
Escondido Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact local police as soon as possible.
