Five Pronounced Dead after Fiery Car Accident near Mile Post 406

LAMPASAS, TX (September 23, 2024) – Wednesday, Jacinto Duran, Yosilu Martinez-Lopez, Mani Arvind, Pradeepa Arvind, and Andril Arvind died in a crash.

The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 281 near milepost 406 around 6:00 a.m., on August 14th.

Reports indicate that 31-year-old Duran was driving a 2004 Cadillac CTS south at high rates of speed when the vehicle suffered a flat tire. The Cadillac then veered into oncoming lanes, where it crashed into the passenger side of a northbound 2024 Kia Telluride.

First responders located both vehicles with extensive damage upon arrival.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Kia occupants, 45-year-old Mani, 40-year-old Pradeepa, and 17-year-old Andril deceased.

In addition, crews pronounced Duran and his passenger, 23-year-old Martinez-Lopez dead.

At this time, officials have not released additional statements, and the crash remains under active investigation.
