Driver Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Collision on Highway 287 [Arlington, TX]
One Killed after Three 18-Wheelers Collide near Sublett Road
ARLINGTON, TX (September 19, 2024) – Late Friday evening, one driver was pronounced dead after a semi-truck collision on Highway 287.
Dispatchers received calls around 10:20 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the highway near Sublett Road on August 23rd.
According to troopers, the collision involved three 18-wheeler trucks, a 2016 Land Rover, and a 2015 Toyota RAV4.
Investigators say the driver of one of the semi-trucks failed to slow down in a construction area. As a result, the semi-truck rear-ended another 18-wheeler, causing the chain-reaction crash.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the driver of the initial 18-wheeler dead at the scene. Although, police officers have not yet released their name or place of residency.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported four others to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews shut down the surrounding roadway for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. No other information was added, and further investigation into the fatal semi-truck collision on Highway 287 remains ongoing.
