Luciano Becerra Garcia Fatally Struck in Bicycle Accident on Highway 41 [Fresno, CA]
41-Year-Old Fresno Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Shields Avenue
FRESNO, CA (September 18, 2024) – Early Friday morning, Luciano Becerra Garcia was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on Highway 41.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 4:45 a.m., just north of Shields Avenue.
Investigators say the driver of a northbound Chevrolet Impala failed to notice the bicyclist ahead. As a result, the Chevy collided with the bicycle.
The impact sent the bicyclist into the traffic lanes, blocking two lanes of the highway. In addition, the 19-year-old male driver of the Chevy pulled over and remained at the scene.
Medical responders transported the bicyclist to a local hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The Fresno County coroner’s office later identified the deceased bicyclist as 41-year-old Luciano Becerra Garcia.
More information regarding the fatal bicycle accident will be released by the Fresno County officials once the investigation has concluded.
