Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized after Head-On Big-Rig Crash on Avenue 12 [Madera, CA]
31-Year-Old Woman Killed in Semi-Truck Collision near Riverstone Boulevard
MADERA, CA (September 12, 2024) – Early Friday morning, one woman was killed and a man was hurt in a head-on big-rig crash on Avenue 12.
Emergency crews received calls around 5:30 a.m., on the westbound lanes of Avenue 12 near Riverstone Boulevard.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a maroon Chrysler sedan had stopped to make a left turn onto Riverstone Boulevard.
There, the driver of a big-rig failed to slow down in time and rear-ended the Chrysler.
The Chrysler then collided head-on with a white Nissan Altima, driven by a 31-year-old woman. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Nissan driver dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 21-year-old man driving the Chrysler to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of unspecified injuries.
In addition, the 39-year-old Kerman resident driving a big-rig remained uninjured.
Following preliminary duties, police officers do not suspect that impairment played a factor.
Madera Officials will release additional details surrounding the fatal Avenue 12 head-on crash once available.
