Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Sierra Highway [Mojave, CA]
Male Victim Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Cerro Gordo Street
MOJAVE, CA (September 12, 2024) – Thursday night, a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Sierra Highway left a male victim with fatal injuries.
Responders arrived to the scene just north of Cerro Gordo Street around 8:48 p.m.
Investigators say the driver of an older model sedan – possibly a red Nissan – hit the victim and immediately fled the scene.
Emergency medics arrived and pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim to the public.
First responders closed off the surrounding roadway on Sierra Highway for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
At this time, the suspect behind the fatal hit-and-run remains at large. Kern County officials are asking those who witnessed the crash to contact the CHP Mojave area office at (661) 823-5500.
