66-Year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Crash near Myrtle Avenue
POMONA, CA (September 12, 2024) – Friday evening, Debra Celia Jaure was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Mission Boulevard.
Police officers responded to the scene around 9:55 p.m., near Myrtle Avenue.
Based on a witness statement, the driver of an unidentified car racing another vehicle hit the woman and kept driving. First responders declared the female victim dead at the scene.
Investigators say the suspect driver eventually returned and turned themselves into the police. The unidentified driver was later released as police continued to investigate the collision.
Authorities identified the deceased woman as 66-year-old Debra Celia Jaure. Jaure had been hospitalized back in May following a bicycle-auto collision in Chino, according to her family.
Jaure’s family started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
At this time, the Pomona Police Department Traffic Services Bureau is leading the investigation of the incident. Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact the Pomona police at 909-802-7741.
