Child Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Accident near State Route 347

PHOENIX, AZ (September 11, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a young boy was killed and a driver was injured in a rollover collision on Interstate 10.

Police officers arrived to the scene around 6:30 a.m., near State Route 347 on August 13th.

According to reports, a tire blowout caused a blue Ford Explorer to lose control near milepost 166.

The SUV then veered into the dirt median and rolled back onto the eastbound lanes before overturning.

A passing Ford pickup-truck then struck the overturned vehicle. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced a young boy in the front seat of the Ford Explorer dead at the scene.

Paramedics also took the driver of the Explorer to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, while the four occupants of the pickup-truck were unharmed.

Investigators have not released any additional information about the rollover collision on Interstate 10. Authorities will share more details as they become accessible.
