Two Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 20 [Tye, TX]
Drivers Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Mile Marker 278
TYE, TX (September 4, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, two victims were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 20.
Just before 2:50 a.m., police officers responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near mile marker 278.
Investigators say the driver of a silver Toyota sedan was heading west in the eastbound lanes. Police officers attempted to get the driver’s attention.
However, the sedan continued traveling before striking a Dodge Ram pickup-truck head-on.
Shortly after, a passing 18-wheeler semi-truck collided with the disabled Dodge truck. In addition, another vehicle struck the debris.
Emergency responders performed life-saving measures on the Dodge driver. Due to the extent of their condition, both the Toyota and the Dodge drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Moreover, troopers stated that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, and further investigation remains ongoing.
