Man Pronounced Dead after Head-On Accident on Highway 156 [San Benito County, CA]
77-Year-Old Los Banos Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near Flint Road
SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA (September 4, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, a male driver was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 156.
The collision occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m., along San Juan Hollister Road (Highway 156) near Flint Road.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of an eastbound Nissan Frontier veered into the westbound lanes for reasons unknown.
As a result, the Nissan collided head-on with a Chevrolet Street Rod traveling in the opposite direction.
Due to the extent of his condition, the 77-year-old Los Banos man driving the Chevrolet died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old man from Castroville driving the Nissan was rushed to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a contributing factor to the incident. The identity of the deceased driver will be released by the San Benito County officials once available.
Authorities will provide more information about the Highway 156 head-on crash once the investigation has concluded.
