Truck Driver Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Collision near Claude

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, TX (September 4, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, a drilling truck accident on Highway 207 killed Cesar Lopez-Delgadillo.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway about 22 miles south of Claude on August 20th.

Upon arrival, troopers found a 2007 Atlas Copco RD20, which is a water well drilling truck weighing at least 80,000 pounds, that fell into the the canyon.

Investigation showed that the driver, Lopez-Delgadillo, lost control of the truck and jumped out of the vehicle before it crashed.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the Armstrong County Justice of the Peace pronounced Lopez-Delgadillo dead at the scene.

No further details about the crash have been made public at this time; however, more information will be released once it becomes available.
