67-Year-Old Woman Dies in Rollover Accident near Shamrock

WHEELER COUNTY, TX (September 3, 2024) – Wednesday morning, Pamela Hanna was killed in a rollover collision on Interstate 40.

Police officers arrived to the scene around 8:50 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway about 2.7 miles east of Shamrock on August 21st.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says Hanna was driving a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica in the right lane of the freeway. Meanwhile, 60-year-old Zeno Baranshakaje was driving a 2022 Chrysler in the left lane with 52-year-old Justine Nduwimana as a passenger.

For reasons under investigation, Baranshakaje veered into the right lane and collided with Hanna, causing Hanna to lost control of her vehicle. The 2018 Chrysler then left the roadway and entered a nearby ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.

Amidst the chaos, 67-year-old Hanna, of Tucson, Arizona was ejected from the vehicle causing fatal injuries. Investigators say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Meanwhile, Baranshakaje and Nduwimana, both from Amarillo, remained uninjured. Crews also say they were both wearing seat belts.

At this time, the officials have not released any additional information about the crash, and further investigation remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Pamela Hanna.
