Sung Sungchang Killed in Pedestrian Collision on South Atlantic Boulevard [Monterey Park, CA]
94-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Garvey Avenue
MONTEREY PARK, CA (August 28, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Sung Sungchang was killed in a pedestrian collision on South Atlantic Boulevard.
At approximately 11:01 a.m., police officers responded to the 100 block of South Atlantic Boulevard near Garvey Avenue on August 20th.
Investigators say the male driver of a vehicle struck Sungchang as he was walking in the area.
Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 94-year-old pedestrian dead at the scene. It is unclear whether he was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
While the authorities have not yet released additional details about the pedestrian crash on South Atlantic Boulevard, they are actively pursuing leads and will provide updates to the public.
