Two Men Pronounced Dead after Dune Buggy vs Truck Collision near Westlawn Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 28, 2024) – Wednesday, a dune buggy crash on Belmont Avenue killed Christopher Fernandez and Miguel Ramirez Jr. 

Authorities responded to the scene around 1:00 a.m., near Westlawn Avenue.

Based on the initial investigation, a dune buggy was traveling with no lights and struck an eastbound semi-truck on Belmont Avenue. 

Authorities claimed that Belmont does not have a stop sign which may have contributed to the incident. 

Responding EMTs declared the two people occupying the buggy dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the semi-truck was unharmed from the incident. 

Later, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the two deceased victims as Miguel Ramirez Jr. (22) and Christopher Fernandez (27). Officers said their dune buggy was not street-legal. 

Fresno County officials are currently gathering additional details to further the investigation.
