19-Year-Old Occupant Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Sir Francis Drake Boulevard

MARIN COUNTY, CA (August 28, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Carlos Enrique Verdugo-Cruz was killed in a head-on crash on Nicasio Valley Road.

Officers received dispatch calls around 8:10 p.m., near the intersection of Nicasio Valley Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard on August 20th.

Investigators report that Verdugo-Cruz was speeding in a Honda Civic.

For reasons unknown, he suddenly crossed into oncoming traffic on Nicasio Valley Road and collided head-on with a Ford Expedition. First responders located both vehicles with severe damage.

Paramedics found 19-year-old Verdugo-Cruz, of Petaluma unconscious and pronounced him dead at the scene due to cardiopulmonary arrest.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
