1 Dead, Dejhaun Jones Arrested after DUI Accident on State Route 76 [Oceanside, CA]
Passenger Killed, Driver Arrested after Solo-Car Crash near Loretta Street
OCEANSIDE, CA (August 28, 2024) – Dejhaun Jones was arrested Thursday night, and his passenger died in a DUI crash on State Route 76.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:08 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Loretta Street.
For reasons under investigation, Jones lost control of the BMW sedan he was driving and crashed into the center-divider before overturning. One passenger from the BMW was then ejected onto the road.
Paramedics arrived and transported his passenger to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla where he later passed away.
Following initial procedures, police officers determined that 20-year-old Dejhuan Jones, of Oceanside was under the influence. As a result, authorities booked him into the Vista Detention Facility for felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
