19-Year-Old Madera Man Killed in Head-On Collision near Dickenson Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 27, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, a wrong-way collision on Highway 180 took the life of Vanshdeep Singh.

Around 2:00 a.m., first responders arrived to the eastbound lanes of the freeway just west of Dickenson Avenue.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a Toyota Camry was heading east and veered left for reasons unknown.

As a result, the Camry collided head-on with another westbound Toyota.

Responding medical personnel pronounced the 19-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry dead at the scene. Officials later identified the deceased driver as Vanshdeep Singh of Madera.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the other driver and his female passenger to a local hospital with significant injuries. The injured driver was later identified as 27-year-old Luis Salazar of Porterville.

Following preliminary duties, Salazar was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Fresno County Officials continue to investigate the head-on crash.
