12-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident near Bell Road
SURPRISE, AZ (August 27, 2024) – Friday evening, Bridger Benner was hurt in a hit-and-run bicycle collision on 175th Avenue.
The incident happened at around 6:00 p.m., in the area of 175th Avenue and Paradise Lane on August 23rd.
Police officers reported that the driver of a 2018-2024 dark gray Toyota Camry struck Benner as he was biking home from playing basketball.
Benner’s father said he was pushed 20 feet into the air before landing in the center median.
Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Paramedics arrived and quickly took 12-year-old Benner to a nearby hospital. Medics say he has a broken clavicle and wrist, and damaged knees and a fractured hip.
