ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (August 27, 2024) – Late Monday evening, Abimael Santillian and Tanner Perez died in a head-on crash on State Highway 19.

Around 10:45 p.m., police officers responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway near Farm-to-Market Road 2330 on August 5th.

Per reports, Santillian was driving a southbound 2006 Toyota Tundra when he veered into the northbound lanes. There, the Toyota struck an 18-wheeler truck carrying frozen chicken, head-on.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 21-year-old Santillian and his passenger, 19-year-old Perez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck, 29-year-old Mohamed Simpara, of Brooklyn, New York remained uninjured.

Investigators say cargo from the truck spilled on the roadway and crews worked to clear the scene.
