41-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Crash near West 44th Street

TUCSON, AZ (August 22, 2024) – Early Wednesday morning, Margot Dawn Roberson was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on South 6th Avenue.

Dispatchers received calls around 1:00 a.m., near West 44th Street and the VA Hospital on August 6th.

Police officers say the driver of a vehicle was swerving in and out of lanes when they struck Roberson who was about 60 feet away from a marked crosswalk.

Investigators say the driver immediately fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Emergency medics arrived and pronounced 41-year-old Roberson, deceased at the scene.

Responding personnel closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, the suspect driver remains at large. An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
