Two Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash near Roymar Road

OCEANSIDE, CA (August 20, 2024) – Tuesday morning, an officer and a driver sustained injuries in a red-light collision on Mission Avenue. 

First responders arrived to the scene around 9:14 a.m., near Roymar Road.

Based on reports, the driver of a westbound white Toyota Corolla went into the bicycle lane and around vehicles before traveling through a red-light.

There, the driver struck the front of an Oceanside Patrol vehicle that was turning at the intersection.

Medical responders took the Corolla driver to Scripps La Jolla for further treatment of moderate injuries. Meanwhile, medics took the officer driving the patrol vehicle to Tr-City Medical Center with minor injuries. 

Authorities are currently working to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Police are asking those with additional information about the Roymar Road two-vehicle crash to contact Officer Kevin Lissner at (760) 435-4651.
