31-Year-Old Man Arrested after Deadly Pedestrian Crash near Ben Maddox Way
VISALIA, CA (August 20, 2024) – Monday evening, Jorge Torres was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Caldwell Avenue.
Dispatchers received calls around 10:30 p.m., near Ben Maddox Way.
Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian and immediately fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting police. Upon arrival, medics located the victim lying in the roadway with fatal injuries.
Responding officials declared the unidentified pedestrian dead at the scene.
A Facebook page, Visalia Watchdog, described the vehicle as a Black Ford Fusion, which was found abandoned a short distance from the site of the incident. Authorities managed to arrest the driver – identified as 31-year-old Jorge Torres – a short while later.
