Fatality Reported after Pedestrian Collision on Interstate 80 [Rocklin, CA]
Unidentified Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Crash near Highway 65
ROCKLIN, CA (August 19, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, one fatality was reported after a pedestrian collision on Interstate 80.
Around 4:30 a.m., first responders arrived to the westbound lanes of the freeway just east of Highway 65.
Investigators say a pedestrian attempted to cross the freeway lanes on the westbound side. However, several passing vehicles hit the pedestrian, leaving them with major injuries.
Emergency medical personnel declared the pedestrian dead at the scene due to the extent of injuries sustained. However, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.
Following preliminary procedures, California Highway Patrol officers say the occupants from the vehicles remained uninjured.
Police officers issued a SigAlert for all the lanes until 7:00 a.m. Rocklin Officials will provide additional information surrounding the fatal pedestrian collision on Interstate 80 once available.
