Pedestrian Dead, Mason Poling Arrested after Hit-and-Run on Pierson Boulevard [Desert Hot Springs, CA]
20-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash near Indian Canyon Drive
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (August 14, 2024) – Friday night, Mason Poling was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run collision on Pierson Boulevard.
First responders arrived to the scene around 9:50 p.m., near Indian Canyon Drive.
Several witnesses reported seeing a black Chevrolet Suburban heading north that struck a man who was walking in a south direction on the northbound lanes.
The Chevy driver then fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting police officers.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 20-year-old man, from Desert Hot Springs, deceased at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, officers managed to locate and arrest the driver, identified as 20-year-old Mason Poling. Poling was booked into jail the next day for a suspected felony hit-and-run with a $75,000 bond.
The Desert Hot Springs Police Department continues to investigate the pedestrian crash.
