Motorcyclist Dead, Driver Arrested after DUI Collision on State Route 24 [Orinda, CA]
Male Rider Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash near Saint Stephens Drive
ORINDA, CA (August 14, 2024) – Early Saturday, a motorcyclist was killed and a driver was arrested after a DUI collision on State Route 24.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 12:05 a.m., near Saint Stephens Drive.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a BMW SUV collided with a motorcyclist on the westbound lanes. First responders arrived to the scene near the Saint Stephens Drive off-ramp shortly after.
Police officers located the motorcycle blocking the No. 2 lane with debris scattered across the middle lanes.
Responding EMTs declared the male rider dead at the scene. Although, his identity remains undisclosed to the public.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the SUV driver for suspicion of felony DUI.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal State Route 24 crash to contact the CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
