40-Year-Old Arvin Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision on South Edison Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 13, 2024) – Early Friday morning, one man was killed and multiple were hurt in a stop-sign crash on Herring Road.

Authorities responded to the scene around 5:43 a.m., near South Edison Road.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that a 24-year-old man from Arvin was driving a southbound 2007 Toyota Corolla. For reasons under investigation, the driver failed to slow down for a stop-sign and continued into the intersection.

As a result, the Corolla struck a westbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 59-year-old Arvin man.

The impact of the crash left the 40-year-old male passenger inside the Corolla with critical injuries. The passenger was later pronounced dead after being transported to Kern Medical.

Paramedics also transported the two drivers and their other passengers to Adventist Health and Kern Medical for minor to moderate injuries.

Bakersfield Officials have not provided any additional information about the Herring Road two-vehicle crash. Authorities will release more information once it becomes accessible.
