11-Year-Old Boy Killed in Scooter Crash near Leigh Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (August 13, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, a scooter accident on Camden Avenue claimed the life of Esias Amaru Ramos-Berhane.
Police responded to the scene around 4:21 p.m. in the area of Camden and Leigh Avenues, near Cambrian Park.
Reports indicate that the driver of a westbound 2006 Chevrolet pickup-truck traveled through a green light and struck a boy riding a scooter against a red traffic signal.
Investigators said the male juvenile was riding a scooter in a northerly direction at the time of the collision.
Responding EMTs declared the boy riding the scooter dead at the scene.The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased victim as 11-year-old Esias Amaru Ramos-Berhane.
Reports said the involved Chevrolet driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
At this time, the family of Esias started a GoFundMe page to help with memorial expenses.
