One Unidentified Victim Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Vs. Car Collision near Bay Bridge Toll Plaza

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 13, 2024) – Early Monday afternoon, the driver of a sedan was killed in a rear-end crash on Interstate 80.

Dispatchers received calls around 1:20 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 just west of the Bay Bridge toll plaza.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a gold Honda Accord rear-ended a big-rig. Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the driver of the Accord dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the person operating the big-rig was unharmed. 

Authorities closed the right lanes of Interstate 80 as crews cleared the scene. The Alameda Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased victim. San Francisco Officials have not provided any additional information about the deadly rear-end crash, but they will reveal more details once available.

Anyone who witnessed the rear-crash on Interstate 80 is encouraged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
