Driver Dead, 4 Hospitalized after Stolen-Vehicle Crash near Jackson Road

RANCHO MURIETA, CA (August 6, 2024) – Monday evening, one man was killed in a pursuit collision on Murieta Parkway.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene near Jackson Road.

According to reports, the driver of the speeding Hyundai Elantra failed to pull over, resulting in a pursuit.

Police said the Hyundai continued onto Highway 49 and into westbound Highway 16.

Eventually, the driver of the Hyundai collided with a Rivian RS1 traveling southbound on Murieta Parkway. Emergency responders managed to extricate the driver and a female passenger.

Paramedics quickly transported the victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Police said the male driver later succumbed to his injuries. However, his name has not been disclosed to the public.

On Tuesday, authorities determined the involved Hyundai to be a stolen vehicle.

No additional information regarding the Murieta Parkway two-vehicle crash has been disclosed publicly. The Sacramento County officials will disseminate more details once they become available.
