Three Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Southton Road
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 6, 2024) – Sunday, Deputy Meredith Portillo, Koree Alcoser and Jorge Luis Pargas Jr. died in a crash on Interstate 37.
Authorities responded to the scene just before 2:00 a.m., near Southton Road on July 21st.
Troopers say 28-year-old Pargas Jr. was driving a Ford F-150 north in the southbound lanes of the freeway. As a result, the F-150 collided head-on with Portillo who was driving a black 2024 Ford Mustang with Alcoser and another passenger.
Upon impact, the F-150 overturned and caught fire. Medics arrived and pronounced Pargas Jr., 20-year-old Portillo and 20-year-old Alcoser dead at the scene.
Furthermore, paramedics also transported another passenger to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Police say that Deputy Portillo just started working at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office last September 2023. She will be deeply missed by her community.
An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
