Two Drivers Pronounced Dead after Fiery Semi-Truck Crash near Mile Marker 59

SIERRA COUNTY, NM (August 5, 2024) – Thursday, Adrian Alejandro Cruz and another driver were killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 25.

First responders arrived to the scene just before 11:00 p.m., near mile marker 59 on July 18th.

According to reports, the driver of a semi-truck hit and elk and swerved left into oncoming traffic. As a result, the semi-truck collided head-on with another truck, occupied by Cruz.

Upon impact, both trucks became fully engulfed in flames.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Cruz, of El Paso, Texas dead at the scene.

Crews also pronounced the other driver deceased. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

At this time, the identity of the other driver was not yet released, and the New Mexico State Police is handling further investigation.
