Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 10 [Phoenix, AZ]
Suspect Still at Large after Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident near 59th Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (August 1, 2024) – Late Sunday evening, one woman was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Interstate 10.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety were alerted about the incident around 11:00 p.m., near 59th Avenue on July 28th.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered the woman lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police officers have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman.
Investigators say the driver of the involved vehicle fled the area without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Emergency crews closed off the intersection for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. An active investigation into the pedestrian crash on Interstate 10 remains underway, and witnesses are urged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
