Female Cyclist Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Senter Road
SAN JOSE, CA (August 1, 2024) – Thursday evening, one woman was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on Tully Road.
Police officers responded to the scene around 6:26 p.m., near Senter Road in the Nuestra Tierra Community Garden.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a westbound 2018 Ford Transit swerved to avoid hitting one cyclist.
However, the Ford driver struck another woman who was also riding a bicycle nearby. Investigators say the two bicyclists were attempting to cross Tully Road in an unmarked crosswalk.
Responding medical personnel transported the female bicyclist to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released her identity.
Following preliminary duties, authorities say the Ford driver remained at the site of the incident and cooperated with the investigation.
