Toddler Killed, Father Hurt in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision on East Alisal Street [Salinas, CA]
2-Year-Old Pronounced Dead, 38-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Pedestrian Crash near Wood Street
SALINAS, CA (August 1, 2024) – Friday night, a toddler was killed and his father was hurt in a pedestrian collision on East Alisal Street.
The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m., at the corner of east Alisal Street and Wood Street on July 26th.
Per reports, the driver of a speeding maroon 2011 Hyundai Sonata struck and dragged a 38-year-old father and his 2-year-old son who were walking in a marked crosswalk.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the young boy dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics rushed his father to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
At this time, the driver remains at large, and law enforcement officials are urging anyone with video of the crash or information about the driver to come forward. An active investigation to gather additional details is still currently underway.
