2 Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Highway 41

TEMPLETON, CA (August 1, 2024) – Monday night, Helmut Stich and Karen Stich were killed and one was injured in a head-on crash on Highway 46.

Authorities responded to the scene just after midnight, about four miles east of Highway 41 on July 22nd.

Investigators say the driver of a westbound 2020 Hyundai veered into the eastbound lanes to overtake a tractor-trailer.

However, the Hyundai struck a Ford F-350 head-on causing fatal injuries to the Hyundai’s driver and passenger.

In addition, paramedics transported the 59-year-old Ford driver from San Diego to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

No further details regarding the fatal Highway 46 head-on crash have been released to the public. The California Highway Patrol will provide more information once available.
