Rider Dies in Red-Light Motorcycle Accident on South Avenue 20 [Los Angeles, CA]
49-Year-old Rider Killed in Pickup Vs. Motorcycle Collision near North Broadway
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 31, 2024) – Police continue to investigate a motorcycle accident on South Avenue 20 killed a rider on May 18th.
Authorities responded to the scene around 7:35 a.m., at the intersection of Avenue 20 and North Broadway.
Los Angeles Police Officers say the driver of a white Ford pickup-truck traveled through a red-light, directly into the path of a northbound motorcycle. As a result, the two vehicles collided.
Investigators say the rider laid down his motorcycle to avoid the collision. However, the rider slid under the pickup truck, causing him to be run over.
Responding units from the Los Angeles Fire Deparment transported the motorcyclist to a hospital where he died from his injuries. Officials only identified the deceased rider as a 49-year-old man.
At this time, the city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone who can provide additional information to the authorities.
The LAPD is asking those who witnessed the fatal South Avenue 20 hit-and-run to contact the South Traffic Detectives as soon as possible.
