81-Year Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision on Cave Creek Road

PHOENIX, AZ (July 30, 2024) – Saturday, Eduardo Jimenez was killed and Alberto Santos was arrested after a bicycle crash on Bell Road.

Around 6:00 a.m., police officers responded to the scene near Cave Creek Road on July 28th.

Reports indicate that 27-year-old Santos was driving a Chevrolet Colorado east on Grandview Road when he veered into oncoming traffic. The Chevy then traveled onto the sidewalk where it hit Jimenez who was standing next to his bicycle.

Medics arrived and pronounced 81-year-old Santos dead at the scene due to the extent of injuries sustained.

Moreover, crews say Santos fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities. Following preliminary duties, detectives located Santos near a damaged vehicle and arrested him.

Police officers say Santos displayed signs of impairment and admitted to leaving the scene of the crash. Although, Santos claims he did not know that he had hit someone. He now faces charges of manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash.
