Two Men Pronounced Dead after Aircraft Collision in Humbolt County
KNEELAND, CA (July 29, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Gabriel Joshua Kulp and Thomias Edward Smith died a plane crash near Kneeland Airport.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m., about 15 miles south of Eureka in Sacramento County.
For unknown reasons, the single-engine Cessna 206 crashed in the area.
Responding emergency personnel declared the two occupants of the aircraft dead at the scene.
On Thursday, the coroner’s office identified the deceased pilot as 29-year-old Gabriel Joshua Kulp of Grass Valley. Kulp’s passenger was identified as 60-year-old Thomias Edward Smith of Carmichael.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration lead the investigation.
